On 27 of august 1980 the Islamic republic of Iran executed two sisters from Saqiz in Sanandaj.

Their charge was attending wounded patients.

Shahla and Nasrin Kabi were nurses and they were treating wounded in E&A.

According to code of conduct nurses and doctors are required to attend and treat patients regardless of their political affiliations even if they are enemy soldiers.

Their charges were attending patients who had been wounded during the civil war. Mainly civilians who had been injured by government bombing civilian areas in Kurdistan.

Following the all out assault on Kurdistan by government forces in autumn 1979 the pressure were mounting on these two sisters and they were forced to live in exile.

Shahla were exiled to city of Qazwin and Nasrin Kabi were sent to Mahan a town in the province of Kerman.

In the spring of 1980 after negotiations between delegates from Kurdish parties and representatives from government many of those who were living in exile returned to Kurdistan. But long after in June 1980 they were again arrested.

They were imprisoned in Saqiz later in Sanandaj and a short time in Evin prison.

Finally on 27 of august 1980 in the middle of the night in the barracks in Sanandaj they were executed.

Their sentences as every other sentences in this regime were unfair, without any trial or due process.

One of their inmates is telling about their final moments in prison prior to their execution:

Late night one of the revolutionary guards without any explanation while their hands were shackled led them out. They were held against the prison wall.

When the guard tries to bind their eyes before execution with firing squad Nasrin says:

– I don’t want to bind my eyes

Shahla says:

– bind my eyes.

The guard says to Shahla if she is afraid of death?

To which she replies:

– I don’t want to see the death of my sister.

After her reply Nasrin agrees as well to have a bind for her eyes.

The Islamic republic news paper on 29 of august 1980 writes that their charges were helping armed enemy forces.

But according to every conscientious people who knew them and according to their inmates they had only done what was their duty as a human and as a nurse.

It is evident to everybody that Islamic republic is using every possible slander and lies and injustice to physically remove their opponents.

Those people who were unrightfully executed are not forgotten in the memory of Kurdish people but are cherished and remembered for their sacrifice. They will ever shine as a star in the sky and lead their people to freedom and justice.

And it will remain as a tarnish on the face of an ugly murderous regime in Teheran.
