The biography of Nasser Henduwash, known as Hero, was written by his brother Chalak Henduwash.
Nasser was born in 1344 Iranian Calendar (1965) in a middle-class family in the city of Mahabad.
He enthusiastically finished primary school and entered middle school in 1978 with a heart full of hope. One day in the spring of 1980, when Nasser was on his way home from school, he was arrested by the mercenary guards of the Islamic Republic, while he still had his school books in his hands. The 15-year-old Nasser was imprisoned for 9 months without knowing the reason and trial. After brutal tortures by regime interrogators and mercenaries, Nasser was told that he had been sentenced to death for collaborating with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan. On the one hand, he was waiting to be executed at any moment, and on the other hand he still hoped to find a way to escape.
Nasser’s physical condition deteriorated after enduring relentless mental and physical torture beyond the capacity of a 15-year-old. He was taken to the hospital. Nasser managed to escape with the help of a sympathetic Kurdish nurse. He had been hiding in a safe place in Mahabad for some time. Despite the intensive surveillance atmosphere, he achieved to leave the city in the spring of 1982. He reached one of the bases of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan located near the city of Mahabad.
After enduring much torture, Nasser was able to escape from the regime’s executioners. For this reason, he was awarded the title Hero by that Party. He was positioned in the Democratic Youth Section by the Party Committee of Mahabad city. He was a lively and humorous person and he was soon able to place himself in the hearts of his peshmergas and friends.
About a year after his escape, Nasser was sent to raise funds in two villages around Mahabad, Lachin and Seyedava by the Democratic Youth Organization. When Nasser arrived in this area, he encountered a large group of Democratic Party peshmergas. They intended to enter the city and carry out operations against the clerical regime. On Nasser’s insistence, he was allowed to accompany them. They entered the city on 17/2/1362 Iranian Calendar (07.06.1983). After a heroic operation, they all left the city in perfect health and without any damage and were moving towards their bases. Between Mahabad and Seyedava, they were ambushed by local mercenaries of the regime. Unfortunately, some peshmergas sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the homeland after a long and exemplary battle. Nasser Henduwash and Osman Baturak were captured after resisting the enemy to the last bullet. After torturing the two captives, they were transferred to prison. After four months of captivity and enduring the most brutal form of torture, they were transferred to Tabriz Prison along with a large number of innocent imprisoned young people from Mahabad, including Rahim Mamli (Nejat). They were executed on 22/06/1362 Iranian Calendar (13.09.1983).
On the same day, a few hours before his execution, Nasser wrote a will to his parents and other family members. He bid farewell to his loved ones forever, as he wrote in his will, he advised his family not to be unhappy. Hero (it was his nickname) heroically went to greet the gallows and the execution squad. As he was only 18 years old, he sacrificed his life for the clean soil of Kurdistan.
