Habibollah Cheraghi, son of San Ahmad, was born in the village of Zardavays in the year 1328 Iranian Calendar (1949) to a middle-class family. He finished the primary education in Zardavays village. He married Glavej Heydari, daughter of the immortal Haj Abdul Rahman Heydari. Then he moved to the city of Paveh. The result of their marriage was two daughters and a son. Habibullah’s job was trading and commerce, and he was a successful man and trusted by the people. Through work and trade, he always visited different cities and villages. Prior to the Revolution of 1978, he established contacts with the Peshmerga of the Patriotic Union of Iraqi Kurdistan and provided financial and moral assistance to the Peshmerga. In the midst of the revolution in 1978, Habibollah Cheraghi participated in demonstrations and protest marches against the Pahlavi government.
He joined the ranks of the Peshmerga of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan in the city of Paveh, after the clerical government came to power and started hostility against Kurdish people. After Khomeini’s fatwa in attacking Kurdistan on 28.05.1358 Iranian Calendar (19.08.1979), IRGC and army auxiliary forces flocked to Paveh. At that time, Habibollah Cheraghi and some of his friends had kept their stronghold at home. Revolutionary Guards Forces surrounded the house and demanded their surrender. But they still resisted. The guards threatened to kill women and children in the house. Habibollah and his friends had no choice but to surrender in order to save the lives of the women and children living in the house.
Ayatollah Khalkhali famous as executioner entered the city of Paveh and sentenced Habibollah Cheraghi and 8 other young people to death in an unjust sentence. Finally, at dawn on 31.05.1358 (22.08.1979), Habibollah Cheraghi was executed in front of Paveh Hospital. Thus the blood of Habibollah Cheraghi and 8 other companions flowed in the clean soil of Kurdistan.
May the memory of Habibollah Cheraghi and the immortals of Kurdistan be cherished.
