Karim Maroufzadeh, the son of Kak Allah and Jeiran, was born on 08.06.1342 Iranian calendar (30.08.1963) in the village of Qozlu in Hawshar region. He lost his father at the age of five years and was deprived of the warmth of his father’s arms forever. After his father’s death, his family’s financial problems caused him to grow up with his sister’s family, and he could finish only primary school. Financial pressures led him to work as a farmer.
He joined the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan after the Revolution of 1979 and engaged himself for political struggle. He was arrested and imprisoned in Orumyia Prison in 1984, just six months after he got married. After some time, he was transferred to Miandoab prison and was shot there on 02.03.1364 Iranian calendar (23.05.1985). To intimidate his family, the Revolutionary Guards of Islamic Republic would only return the body under the condition that his family had to pay for the execution bullets. His family had no other choice than to pay that money to get back his body.
