Three persons, Idris Ali and Azad Shojaei, residents of Dolagram village, Sardasht city of Iran, and Ahmad Rasul, Iraqi citizen and resident of Sulaimani city of Iraqi Kurdistan region, were arrested by the security forces of Iraq on 4/1402 (bbegining of summer 2023). They were delivered to Iran, whereas they were transferred to the detention center of Security agency in Urmia. They were subjected to mental and physical torture and forced to confess under severe torture. Iranian security agents accused them of spying for Israel and transferring equipment used in the killing of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, a nuclear scientist of the Islamic Republic.

Idris Ali and Azad Shojaei were working as kolbaris, and Ahmad Rasul also had a business relationship with them. Initially, they denied all the charges, but due to torture, they were forced to confess against themselves. It should be mentioned that during the judicial investigations, they were deprived of the right to appoint a lawyer and after sending the case to the Revolutionary Court, they were able to choose their own lawyer. The spokesman of the judiciary, Asghar Jahangiri, announced on 15/8/1402 (November 6, 2023) that three persons had been sentenced to death in connection with the assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh. He added: “Eight people were arrested in West Azerbaijan, three of whom were members of this gang who smuggled alcohol and other terrorist equipment into the country. These three men were sentenced to death.”

The Islamic Republic, which cannot deal with Israel, is arresting individuals and falsely accusing them of being spies for Israel. Regarding false accusations against them as spying for Israel, Iranian government pretends in arresting individuals linked to the Mossad and Israel. Such actions have been fully exposed. Public opinion and human rights groups also do not accept this blatant policy of the Iranian regime, which is aimed at deceiving the public. However, the authoritarian rulers of the Islamic Republic of Iran continue to pursue this policy with disregard, sentencing innocent people to death and carrying out unjust death sentences.

Mehrab Abdullazadeh, 27 years old, from Urmia, was abducted by intelligence officials in the beginning of Jina Amini revolution in 2022 in Urmia. He has been sentenced to death on charges of warfare and corruption on earth. He awaits the execution of the court sentence, namely the death penalty. He is accused of killing a Basiji (voluntary recruited of Revolutionary Guards) during the Jina Amini uprising.

Ahmad Rasul

A large number of protesters were arrested during the nationwide uprising in 2022, which was called “Women, Life, Freedom” revolution. Several people have been sentenced to death on alleged accusation by the judiciary.

Nemiran Center condemns in the strongest terms the sentences of these four Kurdish prisoners and appeals on the public to be their voices.
