Khosrow continued his studies in Mahabad. However, in 1980, when the war broke out, schools in the city were shut down.

The following year, in 1981, Khosrow’s family moved back to Urmia. With the situation in Mahabad deteriorating, the local education administration announced that schools would reopen in the summer, allowing students to resume their education.

After his family returning to Urmia, Khosrow lived with his grandfather, “Haji Ghani Chaychi,” in Mahabad. One night, a fierce battle erupted in the neighborhood between Peshmerga forces and Iranian government troops, resulting in a complete siege of the area. Curious about what was happening in the neighborhood, he decided to go out despite his grandfather’s advice.

Khosrow was detained that day and taken to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ facility in Mahabad. He spent less than a month there before being moved to a prison in Urmia.

On December 16. 1981, Khosrow’s father,  Hasan, along with Ghafouri Chaychi,  his uncle visited the detention center to meet him, only to be informed that Khosrow had been executed some days earlier.

On December 13. 1981, 13 Kurdish man from the city of Mahabad were executed. Their families held a simple memorial ceremony in a local mosque and the bodies were put to rest in the cities only cemetery.
