Masoud was the son of “Agha Beg” and “Haj Ameneh”, one of the native merchants and a known family of Mahabad. Masoud was born in 1341 Iranian Calendar (1962) in Mahabad. He studied at high school until 1982, where he was arrested.
He was a smart and active young man. He was a good student and was very interested in music and spent most of his time at the scout house where he learned to play musical instruments. Before the Iranian revolution, he worked with the youth music group and the scout house. After the revolution, he cooperated with the artistic group of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran.
Masoud was a talented musician. I can confidently say that he would have been very successful if he had been in life. He always said: “I am fascinated by art and music”. He intended to study music at the university. In fact, he had reached a high level of skill in music at that time.
Masoud often talked about music and musical notes, which we did not know much about. But when he brought his trumpet and played for us, we had a lot of fun and joy.
Masoud and I were classmates in the fourth grade of Ibn Sina High School in 1981, where he was arrested and was executed three weeks later. I remember that his mother “Haj Ameneh”, was allowed to visit him just once.
Masoud was shot to death on 8/6/1360 Iranian Calendar (28.10.1981) and his body was handed over to his family on the same day. His only accusation was that he had collaborated with the music group of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran for a short period of time.
Visiting his mother “Haj Ameneh” was really painful for me. Whenever Masoud’s friends and I visited her, she started crying grievously. I remember that my friend Nader and I visited her on 1983, when I was planning to leave Iran for the first time. She welcomed us warmly with tears in her eyes. She led us into the guest room. A large photo of Masoud was set up there covered with a red cloth. I never forget her, her soul may rest in peace.
Masoud lived only 19 years. He had a lot of dreams like his peers. He had never touched a weapon. His only alleged accusation was that he had cooperated with the music group of a Kurdish Party. His fate should not have been like this.
Dedicated to the soul of innocent Masoud
