Mansoor Arwand, son of Rahman Arwand and Khadijeh Rahim Soori, was born on 31/06/1354 Iranian Calendar (22 of September 1975) in Mahabad. He graduated high school in the same city. He loved sports and became a famous wrestler. He loved his homeland and was an elegant man. He wanted to keep the youth away from the deception led by Islamic regime of Iran through sports. For that purpose he founded a wrestling club. His club became a trustful center for youth and people generally. He married later and got a child.
He became a member of underground organization of Kurdistan Democratic Party –KDP- in 2003. Finally he became under surveillance by intelligence services in Mahabad in 2011 and got arrested.
He spent several months in solitary confinement and endured horrific tortures in Urmiyeh Prison, but he did not break down. After one year imprisonment he was sentenced to death.
Undeterred by his sentence he arranged a protest in 2014 in prison against the regime.
His review of the death sentence was still ongoing, but the security forces did not wait for the final judiciary verdict. They carried out the sentence. His family was informed about his execution several weeks after his execution 24/3/1394 Iranian Calendar (14 of June 2015).
People of Mahabad and entire East Kurdistan mourned the tragic death of this hero. The security forces had given clear warning to his family not holding any memorial services for Mansoor and even had arrested his brother to keep the family at bay. But despite their threats people across Eastern Kurdistan came to his unofficial memorial ceremony at his home to show their sympathy and support to his family.
