The memorable Mostafa Bakhtiari, the son of “Rasoئl” and “Amena”, was born on 20/7/1340 Iranian Calendar (12/10/1961) into a middle-class family in Mahabad. He left his high school year unfinished and joined the ranks of the Peshmerga of Peykar Organization (a left-wing orientated organization). He was a very serious and committed person in organizational work and believed in realization of social and national rights. He believed in the right to self-determination of ethnicities and opposed all forms of oppression and discrimination. . He was arrested in Mahabad in early October 1981. After one month of enduring the most brutal tortures, he was shot dead in Mahabad on the afternoon of Saturday, 2/8/1360 (24/10/1981).
The execution of Mostafa, along with three other fighters named 1- Rahim Sonboli 2- Abbas Tokmachi 3- Ali Jahangiri, was reported in the Kayhan newspaper on 6/8/1360 (28/10/1981).The news department of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had charged Mostafa for “participating in 11 armed clashes and killing several soldiers and also members of the Revolutionary Guards.” The text of the news regarding their execution, details and accusations was provided to the Kayhan newspaper by the news department of Mahabad Revolutionary Guards in a telephone call. The news of this execution was published in the extra edition of Mojahedin Magazine number 261, (People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran) on 15/6/1364 (6/9/1985). Mostafa Bakhtiari stood brave and steadfast in front of the religious prosecutor and said:” I am proud of being a communist and to fight for the freedom of my people.”
