According to a reliable source, a 15-year-old child named Barzin Hamzazadeh passed away on February 1th 2024, in a hospital in Urmia due to kidney failure. Barzin, who was the son of Omid Hamzazadeh and Bayan Mahmoodi, had been arrested following the Woman Life Freedom unrest in his hometown of Sardasht. It is reported that he endured torture while in prison. It is believed that the inadequate or incorrect treatment he received while in prison ultimately led to his death. The child had no previous medical condition that can explain the sudden death. Unfortunately, his body has not yet been released to his family. The Nemiran center strongly condemns the torture and inhumane treatment of children in Iranian prisons. Our thoughts are with Barzin’s family during this difficult time.
