According to Kurdpa (a kurdish human rights website) Dawood Abdollahi, also known as Sayyed Aso, a Kurdish prisoner was executed on January 3, 2024, in Qezel Hasar prison in Karaj. His body was released to his family and brought back to his hometown of Mahabad.

Dawood, born to Sayeed Abdollah and Khadijeh Mouradi in Mahabad, leaves behind a wife and two children named Asra and Mouseeb.

Fourteen years ago, Dawood was arrested along with six other men, Khosrew Basharat, Kamran Shexe, Answer Khzri, Qasim Abesteh, Farhad Salimi, and Ayoub Karimi, due to their religious beliefs. They were accused of being members of a Salafi movement and allegedly responsible for the killing of a prayer leader, Abdolrahim Tina, who worked in a mosque in Mahabad. All the prisoners denied any involvement in the accusations. They were kept in solitary confinement for extended periods in Urmiya prison and subjected to inhumane torture. They were convicted in Tehran by Judge Mouhammad Moqeyseh and given death sentences. On April 13, 2012, the prisoners were transferred to Rajayi Shahr prison in Karaj. After the closure of Rajayi Shahr prison in 2023, they were moved to Qazal Hasar prison in the same city.

Dawood was placed in solitary confinement in preparation for his execution on December 26, 2023. He went on a hunger strike as a protest, which lasted for seven days. He was then executed in the yard of Qezel Hasar prison.

The Nemiran Center condemns the inhumane and unjust treatment of the prisoner and hopes that human rights organizations worldwide will take action to prevent such incidents from happening again.
