Peyman Galwani, a Kurdish citizen from Mahabad, was arrested on 4/4/1402 Iranian Calendar (25th June 2023) by the agents of Iranian Revolutionary Guard in his home. He was transferred to the Intelligence Department of Urmiyeh.
According to Hengaw news website (a Kurdish Independent Human Rights Organization), the 24-year-old Peyman Galwani died in Khomeini Hospital in Urmiyeh on 18/4/1402 Iranian Calendar (9th July 2023) at 9 am after a few days of hospitalization, due to low level of consciousness and coma.
Peyman’s family has confirmed that he did not have any illness and that he was in perfect health condition when he was arrested by the intelligence agents of the IRGC.
During his hospitalization in Khomeini Hospital, two security guards of the Urmiyeh Intelligence Department were constantly observing him. Nobody was allowed to visit him. Only his sister was allowed to visit him once after his family complained. After visiting her brother she pointed out that the marks of torture in the face and on the body of Peyman were clear and obvious.
His corpse is kept in the mortuary of that hospital. It is not clear what will happen to Peyman Galwani’s body.
It is important mentioning that the number of murdered prisoners under the torture of intelligence forces has increased after the nationwide uprising of the people during the Jina revolution and especially during the past two months.
