After the Iranian Revolution in 1979 and the foundation of the Islamic Republic, people in East Kurdistan expressed their dissatisfaction with the regime by saying no to the reactionary regime. This was the reason for the Islamic government to treat Kurdistan and Kurdish people as an enemy. As a result of this attitude, Ayatollah Khomeini, the supreme leader of the regime, ordered jihad against Kurdistan on August, 19th<\/sup> in 1979. The pretext for the comprehensive attack of the regime’s military forces on Kurdistan was the presence of Kurdish political organizations that had emerged from the hearts of the Kurdish people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A large number of people were killed, a lot of villages and cities were destroyed and many people were forced to flee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the attacked villages by the clerical regime was Inderqash, located five kilometers from Mahabad in the direction towards Miandoab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mullah Hassani, an Azeri Mullah from Urmiyeh, along with murderers such as Haji Azim Ma’boodi Hassanlooyi, ordered the mass murder of the residents of Inderqash village. They made piles of corpses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, October, 4th<\/sup> in 1980, the Revolutionary Guards, under the command of Mullah Hassani (representative of Ayatollah Khomeini) and led by Haji Azim Ma’boodi Hassanlooyi, entered the village of Inderqash. Their excuse was to collect weapons and ammunition and asked the people to hand over their weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The villagers responded that they had handed over all their weapons and ammunition to the Revolutionary Guards already. They had even received receipts from the Revolutionary Guards. However, the regime’s mercenaries entered many houses forcibly under the pretext of searching, took dozens of people to the village mosque and shot them there. Then they set fire to houses and shot anyone who was in sight. Dozens of innocent people, men and women, young and old were killed or injured in this inhuman tragedy. Some of the wounded died weeks later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This massacre on October, 4th<\/sup> in 1980 coincided with the 25th<\/sup> Zihaja (lunar calendar). It is one of the dates on which fighting and bloodshed is forbidden regarding the Shiite faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
